Can I sit this on a deck?

Yes absolutely. Although the legs don't get warm we do recommend sitting it on some pavers to give extra protection.

Can the cooking plate be removed?

Yes it can. The groove around the cooking plate helps to keep the outside of it cooler so that once you have finished cooking you can easily remove it and have a large open fire pit bowl.

Does it have holes in the bottom to drain the water and provide air flow?

No it doesn't. The reason there are no holes is so the the water doesn't leak out and put black ash all over your deck. The canvas cover will stop the water entering the bowl. There are air vents under the cooking plate to feed the fire with oxygen.
