Pit Barrel Custom Charcoal Chimney Starter
Don’t let lighter fluid get in the way of the unique and amazing Pit Barrel flavor.
The Pit Barrel Custom Chimney Starter holds the perfect number of briquetttes and is designed to fit perfectly within the size and shape of the Pit Barrel.
Following the directions that can be found here, getting a solid, natural start to your cook couldn’t be easier.
Lighting method:
- Fill your Pit Barrel coal basket completely level with standard briquettes (we recommend Kingsford).
- Remove approximately 20 briquettes from charcoal basket and place in your Custom Pit Barrel® Chimney Starter
- Place coal basket with remaining briquettes in the bottom of the Pit Barrel®.
- Set grill grate in your cooker. Place some crumpled newspaper or a fire starter cube on the grate and light. Immediately place your Custom Pit Barrel® Chimney Starter on top.
- Let your coals burn approximately 12 minutes (increase for higher elevations). Remove the grate and evenly distribute the coals from the Custom Pit Barrel® Chimney Starter over the unlit coals in the charcoal basket.
- Begin your cook immediately.
