On Sunday, November 16, 2025, Some of New Zealand’s finest Pitmasters and BBQ enthusiasts will gather at BBQs Direct to showcase their skills in this dual Steak Cookoff Association and Rib Cookoff Association event.

This isn’t just any cookoff - among the contenders are some of NZ’s Top Steak, Ancillary and Rib Cooks, ready to prove why they’re the best in the business. Expect thick-cut Steaks, Ribs and Wings cooked to smokey perfection, plus inventive ancillary dishes bursting with flavour - and the unmistakable spirit of competition that makes BBQ a true spectacle.

Our Car Park Cookoff transforms BBQs Direct into an open-air arena where sizzling grills, friendly rivalries, and mouthwatering aromas collide. From the sear of a perfect steak, wickedist wing and stickiest rib to the creativity of unique sides, every dish tells a story - and you’ll have front-row seats to the action.

Single Steak Cookoff - Watch competitors bring their very best steak game, searing, seasoning, and serving up perfection.

Two Creative Ancillary Dishes – Innovation meets flavour as cooks craft imaginative sides and specialties that go beyond the grill.

Chicken Wing Cookoff – From smokey to spicy, tangy to fiery, wings take center stage in a battle of bold flavours.

Pork Rib Cookoff – Low and slow, sticky and tender - ribs become the ultimate test of patience, technique, and BBQ mastery.

Every round is designed to showcase not only technical skills but also the personality and flair each cook brings to the flame.

Join us to watch the exciting competitions unfold throughout the day. After the heat of the contest, chat BBQ and share some laughs with the competitors once their entries are submitted.
